Non O Visa One Year Extension for Wife and Child

Featured Replies

My wife and my 2yrs old son is on Non O (Dependent Visa) and in next 7 days they will complete their first 90 in Thailand, now I want to extend it for 1 yr because my Visa is valid till May 2017. What all documents required for this process? Is it necessary to have 400,000 THB in my or my wife account to extend their stay for 1 yr. Will it be a complex procedure without an agent as I don't speak Thai?

What "Visa" do you have ?

They cannot get an extension based upon you having a visa from an embassy or consulate. If you actually have an extension of stay you obtained at immigration that qualifies for them to get an extension as your dependents they do not need to show any financial proof.

They would need copies of your passport photo page and extension of stay stamp. Dependent upon the basis for your extension there may be a need for other documents supporting your extension.

They will need the original marriage and birth certificates. If not in English they will need to be translated to Thai and the translation certified by the department of consular affairs of the MFA. They will also need be certified by your embassy if possible. Immigration will also accept a self certification of them done by doing a sworn statement notarized by your embassy. These would also need to be translated if not in English.

You may have problems getting all the above done within 7 days. The extension could of been applied for 30 days before their permit to stay ends.

I already have all the documents, I will get my relationship certificate on Monday evening from Indian Embassy, how long the immigration department will take to process my request, because as far as I know from 5-9th May Immigration office will be closed, so I have only 3rd and 4th May. Is it sufficient time ? By the way I am on Non B, I forgot to mention that in my post.

I am certain your non-b visa has expired already. You apparently have an extension of stay based upon working you obtained at immigration.

If you a have all the required documents they will do the extension while you wait.

As you wrote immigration will be closed from the 5th until Monday the 9th. If their current permit to stay ends while immigration is closed they could apply on the 9th and not be fined for an overstay. After the 9th they will be charged for everyday of overstay at 500 baht per day.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help ! f I understand you correctly if I have all the documents, the same day immigration will process my request.

They will grant the extensions on the same day they accept the application. Your wife and child will be applying for the extensions by each of them submitting a TM7 form and both of them must be present when the application is done. You will not be making the request.
