Retirement Extension 800K - Phuket

Featured Replies

Well it went quite smooth yesterday, the pre check paper fellas can surprise you though, forgot to sign all the papers, he also wanted to check my mobile number so he called me - that was a first ever. Filled out the overstay warning papers as usual, all good went to the officer inside which I had 2 years prior, she was very quick glanced at 12 month bank statement, and said 1900 baht please. Gave me a number and said pick up PP tomorrow at 4:00pm - ridiculous time with rush hour traffic etc. Anyway showed up at 1:30pm today, only one other fella in there, my Passport was ready !! Got a copy of the new extension, walked over to room 101 wanted to grab a re entry permit while there. Had copy of PP data page, new extension, last entry, TM 8, photo, then the young pre check lady says she needs a TM30, what's this all about ? for a re entry ? thats a first ever for me, didn't have it and left without a word, couldn't be bothered asking for a supervisor, and not something needed right away........ got the 1 year stamp which matters, cheers ........ something new every year

One other thing my 90 day report I was told starts on the last entry date into Thailand, not 90 days from new extension date...... different from last year

Ta for report.

Yes TM30 request can be hit and miss for something like reentry permit.

Would have thought you needed TM30 for extension.

Few things weren't mentioned.

Bank Letter, Lease, Map, etc

Money in bank method or income method.

As for reentry permit since you didn't obtain that you could get it at airport next trip out.

Yes I had the bank letter as well, did a transaction same day as application, Yes google map shown, and asked for selfie photo with house number - I had it with me but didn't hand it over at first. Did not ask for TM30 or rental agreement ( which I had with me ) my extension was 800k method.

Ok ill have the TM30 with me for re entry, yes airport as well for a re entry, thanks

Assume Phuket airport also has the 200b optional service for reentry permit where you just hand over pp.

Living in Bangkok ive only obtained reentry permits at BKK and DMK

Actually I don't know, most often I fly to Bangkok then out. I've never tried getting a re entry at the airport, paranoid about the office being closed or something.....

Interesting. It reads like Phuket has managed to speed up the process from over a few years ago, compared when I had to do such in the 2020-to-2023 timeframe. Typically I would show up at Phuket Immigration at around 10:00am (after having first visited may local bank to get all the bank paperwork) and i would be sitting there at immigration until after 6pm. I was always impressed that even thou immigration doors closed, the staff work quite late, even after 6pm. ... I was always asked for my TM30 by the Phuket immigration volunteers who screen one's paper work. The IOs (from what I recall) would glance at the TM30, and then discard it.

Anyway, the one full day at Phuket immigration every year (and back then my timing as bad as it was always crowded like a zoo - and the seating was a hard thin bench outside) was one of the factors that motivated me to go for an LTR visa (which required me to restructure my finances a bit).

Thanks for the report thou.

Most of the expats I know in Phuket are on Type-Os (for either marriage or retirement) so its good to read the process is less painful now.

Phuket Immigration is pretty efficient now. There is a new building for tourist extensions, Certificates of Residence (CoR), TM30 forms, and other services.

On the second floor of the main building, they process Non-O marriage visas and Non-B visas and extensions. I have no idea where retirees go, but I am pretty sure they have a dedicated building or room just for them.

The second floor of the main building is nicely renovated, clean, and never too crowded.

Speaking of the staff's working hours, I renewed my marriage extension a few weeks ago. My wife was chatting with an officer who had processed my application a few years prior. Suddenly, he stood up and said, 'Excuse me, but I have to go take my medication.' When he came back, he continued chatting with my wife and told her that his health was deteriorating due to overwork. He mentioned it wasn't a rare occasion for him to have to work until midnight there.

I have the online TM30 reporting setup so before I go to immigration I create a new one and print the confirmation. I had it in my stack of papers when submitting my retirement extension documents in Phuket last month. The young guy who does the check kept it so I've always assumed it's required.

I recall they asked for a TM30 when I needed a Certificate of Residence so I've been in the habit of doing it anytime I need to go to immigration - even though I've lived in the same condo I own for 10 years.

But no doubt rather more painful for those on pre-2019 Type-OA's ever since Phuket started enforcing the mandatory health insurance requirement for retirement extensions in their case a couple of years ago.
