Watana remains critical of military junta over arrest of 8 activists

2804005-1-wpcf_728x410.jpg

Defiant Pheu Thai party's former MP Watana Muangsook continued criticising the military junta strongly over the arrest of eight activists and refusal of bails by the Military Court yesterday.

In his comment on Facebook page, Watana said the action was a shock to all lawyers in the world when these eight people were arrested and denied bails when they just ridiculed the prime minister by posting his pictures on the page with funny captions, but were put on trial in the Military Court for national security threat charge.

Watana explained that an offence of national security threat as defined under Article 116 must contain essential element to make it become a crime, he said.

The person must have intent to create public disturbance and resistance, he said.

But he said police investigators stated in their request to the court for permission to detain them that they intended to make the prime minister and his government funny jokers with no efficiency to run the country.

Therefore their satirical postings did not meet the essential element defined in the law, he said.

He further commented that as the prime minister has said that he disliked person who open the door to outsiders to come in to undermine the country.

However the prime minister has forgotten that the world communities adhere strictly to the principle of non interference of internal affairs of other countries unless human rights are abused.

He said Thailand is violating human rights and the person who violates human rights is the person who open the door, and he is deserved to be condemned.
