Justice Fund Act helps eliminate social inequalities

BANGKOK, 2 May 2016 (NNT) – The Justice Fund Act is helping the general public have better access to the judicial system and reduce social inequalities, says the Ministry of Justice spokesman.

The Ministry of Justice Spokesman Tawatchai Thaikyo has addressed the problem on the difficulty of access to the judicial system that makes it challenging to equally enforce laws. Cases that require judicial processes in court will also result in costly fees.

He has said the Ministry of Justice is aiming to solve this problem by establishing the Justice Fund Act, which will provide financial support to the general public for costs of legal procedures and provide better protection to their rights.

The public who wish to receive support from the fund can make a request to their local village headsmen, or the chief government official at the provincial level, or through the Damrongtham Center in each province.

Since the establishment of the Justice Fund over the past 6 months has resulted in the vast disbursement funds with 30 million baht remaining from the original 150 million baht budget, which reflects the progression of the campaign operations.

The Ministry of Justice spokesmen also added that the money in this fund has not only been allocated from the government’s annual budget, as the law requires 5 percent of all fines ordered by the court of justice to be deposited into this fund.

Will a confession be rquired to access the Justice Fund?

Seems to be a requirement to get bail - see the case of the bridge players arrested for gambling.

"Since the establishment of the Justice Fund over the past 6 months has resulted in the vast disbursement funds with 30 million baht remaining from the original 150 million baht budget, which reflects the progression of the campaign operations"

There's no question then that they're spending the money..(which, if is easy to grab, will dissapear).....but have any of the poor invloved in legal matters actually received benefit from the system......120M Baht spent could be a lot of legal cases.....

How about some examples of the spending?

Can anyone say... Socialism?

' Justice ' here ?

Not familiar with the term

120 million baht over the past 6 months has resulted in a lot of brown envelopes. keeping the wheels of the system greased...... to avoid sand in the machinery!

"helps eliminate" ......Reduce sounds better ministry of justice. And after you have accomplished that you may beat your chests.

Even in the most advanced states there is no elimination of social inequalities mr minister.

Can anyone say... Socialism?

Not when discussing the policies of a far right authoritarian government, you can't...

Just make legal representation a right and provide a legal infrastructure that supports that right.

None of this, "apply & go through the village headman" crap...
