Hi guys, i need your help to reccomend some hotels in chiangmai. I and my gf will be there on 29 dec to 1st Jan. Our budget around 800-1000baht, our only concern will be good location, clean and without any bad smells. And also which hotel booking website offers the best price?

You will have to be quick..I read an article in the Post saying that you could not get a room for Love nor Money in CM between now and when the Floral show is over...550 hotels and guesthoses fully booked, so they are opening up Temples for those needing accomodation.

Obviously this info only comes from the paper, but my freind tried to book up for Xmas at Ramming Lodge and he wants to be here 10 nights..they said they could only offer him 5 nights ,but these were staggered sohe would have to move in-move out-move back etc... and that was 3 weeks ago!

I eventually got him somewhere, but it was for 3,500 baht a night.

You could however try Tawan Court, their prices are within your budget, I have no idea if they are full or not.

www.piangpor.com and go to their hotel site from there.

Let us know how you get on

Looks pretty busy to me. I was booking hotel for friends about 5 days ago. I called just about every place in one of the Chiang Mai magazines. All I could come up with was D2. I can't remember the price but it was over 6,000Bt/nt

I've heard that even guesthouses and apartments and monthly rentals are mostly full because so many Thai tourists coming.

My first first planned trip to Thailand for late December/early January will be delayed until a future time. Back to exploring the Philippines this trip.

Is this Floral show an annual thing? If so, does this mean to forget about visiting Chaing Mai during the coolest weather months forever?

If people need places to stay in Chiang Mai there seems to be TONS of cheap hotel openings over in the backpacker area near The UN Irish Pub and Moon Muang soi 9 on the other side of Rachaddamamndoen Road.

Some are quite comfortable with air con, UBC cable TV and swimming pools.
