May 3, 201610 yr In BKK they just dig and fill the hole but it all depends of the soil you got. If you have dense heavy clay you might give it a try (small hole first).

May 3, 201610 yr Years back I worked on a UK farm and recall a duck pond being dug out with a Drott / bulldozer. If I remember correctly, the driver spread clay over the excavated area and repeatedly worked back and forth with the tracks further adding to the compaction and water-tightness of the pond. So, yes it is possible.
