The airhead taxi driver and the air hostess

BANGKOK:-- A dumb taxi driver gave his phone number out after fleecing an air hostess leading to his arrest.

The air hostess - a Thai named only as "Bee" - had taken a cab from Don Muang airport after arriving on a flight. There was no meter or identifying card in the taxi but after the driver said he would give her the proper price she decided to proceed, reports Daily News.

He ripped her off by charging 1,200 baht to go to the passport office in Chaeng Wattana Road, a fare that should cost 100-150 baht. But the taxi driver gave a receipt to the passenger, with a name and phone number telling the air hostess that she could call him to receive his excellent and convenient cab service whenever she needed it.

The lady got out but only after the driver had unsuccessfully asked for her phone number too. Knowing that she had been fleeced but due out on another flight she asked her sister to follow up with land department officials who contacted police.

The name on the receipt was found to be false but phone registration records indicated the driver was called Wachara Thanoi, 31, a resident of Lat Krabang, Bangkok for whom a warrant was out for embezzlement.

Police got a picture of the suspect and when Bee confirmed it was the same man police moved to arrest Wachara at Don Muang when he was seen up to his tricks again at Don Muang airport. He ran off but was soon arrested and charged with his taxi confiscated as evidence.

Son Nam na ........ stupid <deleted>.

Was he drunk when he fleeced the hostess?

I am pretty sure that it was the alcohol who made him do that.
Otherwise, a Thai would never do such thing.

Don't worry khun Watchana.
Just say that you are sorry and make a big "Wai" and you will be back in your taxi in no time.

Well done to the police for catching him.

Som nam naa thumbsup.gif

should never be allowed a licence again, and take his hat away!

Unfortunately, you are 100% correct. This scum bag will be out and doing his old tricks in no time ...

Zero consequences, Zero accountability - that's what Thailand is all about ....

he had a stiffer punishment cos he fleeced a thai? Funny thing is why would a thai agree to the pricing with no meter?

We all have been there - we are working and have a busy schedule. Then we encounter the overly chatty taxi-driver. To shut him up we might pretend not to speak his first language and address him in English (as air crew, she would be able to speak English well). You agree to his terms because you are in a hurry - no meter etc. Then he overcharges you by 600%. You still don't have time to argue but you are sure to make a complaint if only you get the time and opportunity. Her sister deals with it and she gets a result.

In related news, the air hostess was arrested for exposing this and bringing shame to the kingdom.

(just in case...I'm kidding)

Well done the Police clap2.gif

Let's hope the courts deal appropriately too.

Float like a butterfly.

Stung by a Bee.

(Inspired by Ali.)

Asking for her number... flirting with someone he just massively ripped off? This guy must be really really dumb.

Some people are born dumb. Others work very hard at it.

where the act is premeditated the book should be thrown at the offenders both as a punishment and deterrent.

forget apologies. mean nothing and it is too cheap.

You may jest, but given that they're after the person who leaked the Hua Hin beating video for "damaging Thailand's reputation", maybe they will bring her in for "re-education".

They need to show the face of these scumbags so we can decide if we want to use his cab from the airport.

500 bath fine and right back to continue fleecing. RTP never learn and taxi drivers never stop scamming.

When the police enforce the rules they will stop.

When police stop all taxis with the vacant light on and a passenger in the back, they will stop.

When we get one meter of snow in Thailand, it will stop.

Ohh sounds like a naughty boy, is this just another one of their knee jerk reactions or will it be applied universally to all matters of "Shafting"/"Lying"/"Stealing" and at all levels mind you.. ohh now that is where it gets difficult, perhaps just stick to the easy targets.

They should present the police with flowers

Evidently not.

If she was due on another flight, why did she leave the airport?. No doubt there was a reason. Just curious.

Rat

Why do they always try to cover their face?

10 times the price. He must have worked in Phuket previously. coffee1.gif
