CDC spokesman explains charter referendum to foreign diplomats



BANGKOK, 3 May 2016 (NNT) – The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) has explained the public referendum process for the draft charter to foreign diplomats to Thailand, affirming to the them that the content of the draft was designed to complement the nation’s culture and current situation.

CDC Spokesperson Norachit Singhaseni invited diplomats and international organization representatives in Thailand to a discussion of the draft constitution’s content as well as the process in which it will be put to a public referendum. A total 47 foreign envoys and 6 organization representatives attended the session.

The spokesperson explained that the constitution drafted by the CDC will be put to a public vote on August 7 while assuring that a process has been started to make sure the public fully understands the document.

He affirmed that the draft addresses the needs of the nation and its culture as best it can and also fielded questions from the envoys.

It's like this falang! We keep the peasants in their place. Ignorant and poor, so we can keep our cheap drivers, maids & whores. We stymie any attempts by politicians to empower the lower classes (by deadly force if necessary). The buffaloes won't actually be aware of this come referendum time though, as we have banned anyone exposing the truth of the whole matter. Got it?

Indeed, by locking people up for criticizing the draft or abducting them for attitude adjustment. In fact people are deliberately being kept in the dark about any negative aspects of the document in the hope it will get more votes

Yes. Based on what I have read, here are the "complementary" aspects of the Charter:

1. Maintaining the position of the military, without accountability or control by an elected government

2. Giving veto power to military-appointed upper house, and diluting power of elected lower house

3. Shifting educational priorities in such a way as to assure incomplete education for poor/low status citizens

4. Avoiding much needed reform of police

5. Expanding use of courts (e.g. new supreme administrative court), shifting balance of power to appointed judges

6. Further limiting the ability of citizens and the press to organize and sustain criticism of the government

Culture? Or its purpose to return power to the elite by weakening/negating the power of any future non military government.

Current situation? The attempt to force a onesided undemocratic charter on an unwilling public in order to have a basically sham democratic election in 2017. And afterwards the new government will be under the direct control of the hidden elite, so just a puppet government.

This passage sounds oddly familiar:

"the deep state is not a political party and its goals do not include winning elections. Rather its agenda is that no party wins decisively, resulting in coalition governments. I've used the term covert government being created by the 2015 draft charter but deep state sounds much more academic.
