Cabinet told to assist people affected by recent summer storms

BANGKOK, 4 May 2016 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed cabinet ministers to help people battered by summer storms.

Government spokesperson Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the prime minister had asked all related agencies to speed up assistance for people in storm-hit areas.

Gen Prayut said street signs and large billboards should be inspected on a regular basis for safety reasons.

According to the spokesperson, the Ministry of Interior and the Royal Thai Army had also been told to help repair the damage and replace several homes that were destroyed by the recent storms.

Maj Gen Sansern added that the prime minister had instructed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to prevent coastal erosion and mitigate other natural hazards.

Lastly, the spokesperson informed the press that the cabinet meeting on the third week of May will take place on Monday, May 16th, given that Gen Prayut and his cabinet ministers will be paying an official visit to the Russian Federation between May 17th and May 20th to take part in the ASEAN-Russia Summit.

So the PM has instructed the minions to prevent costal erosion. Would have thought he would have dealt with this issue himself.

Is there something missing in the Thai culture or Buddhist faith that the PM has to instruct his cabinet miinisters to help people?

Or just a lack of empathy for people in general?
