Two Thais hunting wild animals were injured after stepping on a landmine in Banteay Meanchey province on Sunday, said Colonel So Channary, Chief of 911th Battalion Border Protection Police in Poipet City. The two men were part of a group of five Thais who crossed into Cambodia from Sa Keo province’s Aranyaprathet district in Thailand to hunt game near Phsar Kandal commune’s O-Neang village, Mr. Channary said.

While they were hunting, one man stepped on an anti-personnel mine, seriously injuring himself and the other man. “One Thai man was seriously wounded and lost his left leg. And another Thai man had serious wounds all over his body,” Mr. Channary said.

“After the explosion, the two victims were rescued by Thai solders and were immediately sent to a hospital in Thailand for treatment,” he added. Colonel Chan Kosal, Deputy Chief of Banteay Meanchey provincial police, said the area around O-Neang is full of landmines. It was the Khmer Rouge’s front line during the early 1990s and is a hotspot for both anti-tank and the types of anti-personnel mines that injured the Thai hunters over the weekend.

Stupid people. So they crossed the border illegally and now their legs were blown off. Darwinism, at it's finest.

Yes, there is a painted line and warning signs the entire length of the border.

I think there's a track that marks most of the border very clearly.

The Thai army have a border patrol driving the track.
