Defense Ministry and Air Force co-chair ceremony to kick off construction of new air force hospital

BANGKOK, 4 May 2016 (NNT) – The Deputy Minister of Defense has joined the Commander of the Royal Thai Air Force to lay a foundation stone and sign an integrity pact, kicking off the construction of an Air Force Hospital that will serve both forces and the public.

Deputy Minister of Defense Gen Udomdetch Sitabutr joined Royal Thai Air Force Commander ACM Treetos Sonchaeng to co-chair the laying of a foundation stone for an air force hospital being constructed in Don Mueang district of Bangkok.

The facility will be fully equipped to offer medical services from general diagnosis to kidney dialysis and specialized treatments. It will also have a 24 hour emergency service.

The deputy minister also was a witness in the signing of an integrity pact between the air force, the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand and Italian Thai Development Co. to keep the project free of graft. The construction is part of an integrity program for 2015 and will be monitored by the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand.

Was their an open bidding for the hospital by a sealed tender or what the contract just given to Ital Thai?

As of 2013, the Royal Thai Armed Forces had 306,000 active duty personnel with more than 1,750 flag officers (generals and admirals). 1,043 new flag officers of all three services were promoted in 2014-2015 but it's not clear how many retired during the same period. (Wikipedia)
