NLA's energy seminar calls for passage of the amendment to alternative energy law

BANGKOK, 5 May 2016 (NNT) – A seminar by a National Legislative Assembly committee has heard calls for an amendment of the alternative energy law to help promote the country’s energy system and economy.

The NLA’s committee on energy affairs recently organized a seminar with representatives from government units and state enterprises as well as business operators to compile opinions on the draft amendment of the Alternative Energy Development Act.

Chairman of the committee Gen. Sakon Satjanit said that if Thailand can seriously adopt the use of alternative energy, the country will be able to help tackle the problem of greenhouse gas and pollution just like in other countries where such efforts have long been pursued.

Gen. Sakon stated that, if the amendment of the Alternative Energy Development Act is passed into effect, it will become instrumental in helping Thailand achieve energy security.

Meanwhile, participants then expressed their support for the draft amendment as they agreed that the draft contains key details to promote stability for alternative energy, natural resources and environment.

Another infuriating article from NNT, in which the substance of the topic is omitted, and the flowery pronouncements are retained.

In other words, would it be too much effort to describe the key changes in law that are anticipated, which are touted to promote alternative energy in Thailand?

That was a rhetorical question, of course. I think NNT only employs typists and a few translators; I seriously question whether they have any journalists.

This is a step in the right direction, wind power and solar , both are free energy , who knows , progress in this area might pave the way for solar wind power hub of Asia.......................................coffee1.gif .

Right after it completes the planned seven coal-fired generation plants.

Meanwhile burning of agricultural fields and trash will continue unabated.

Unspecific ammendments that remove problems with environmental issues or not? Or maybe a nuclear facility that can bypass restrictive requirements for consent? The demand for increasing energy demands should not come at the risk of longer term negatives.

agree with you completely - no information on the topic, just the useless information that everyone agrees on everything.
