Visa Exempt on 30 Day extension to Marriage visa

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am from the UK and recently got married to a Thai. Since then we have been doing a little traveling in a out of Thailand. When I arrived back in Thailand I was given the usual 30 day Visa Exempt at the airport. This ran out a few days ago and I want to Immigration yesterday and extended it for 30 more days.

What do you think is best I do? Just to recap a few things.

British Passport

Currently on: Visa Exempt on 30 Day extension

Married to a Thai National with Marriage certificate etc.

Have over 600K in a Thai bank account for the last 6 weeks.

Currently renting in Bangkok and the lease is in my name.

Regards

At the end of this 30 day extension you could apply for a 60 day extension based on visiting your wife.

Or

At the end of the 30 day extension or the 60 day extension you could go to a Thai embassy/Consulate and get a non 'O' visa based on being married to a Thai. it will give you a 90 day stay on entry. Within the last 30 (maybe 45 days) of that entry you can apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage.

Or

With at least 15 days of your current stay remaining you could go to Immigration (CW) and apply to convert your visa exempt entry to a non 'O' entry. Return two weeks later to be granted a new 90 day stay. Then, within the last 30/45 days apply for a 1 year extension of stay.

Thanks I was told that I can't now apply within Thailand because I have already done the 30 Days then extended for 30 days. I can't apply for another extension within Thailand. Maybe I should call immigration again.

Read what elviajero tells you.

All the options are viable.

It is true that you will not be given another 30 day extension !

You won't be able to apply for another extension based on tourism, but you should be able to extend again based on being married. Make sure they understand that you want a 60 extension to visit your wife.
