chiangrai
I have windows 8.1 and have a message in the taskbar saying "1 important message, reconnect your drive" Then another message saying "your files will be temporarily copied to your hard drive until you reconnect your file history drive and run a back up" Anybody know what this is and what I can do about it. lopburi3
Have you disconnected a drive or changed any settings? Windows 10 keeps copies of everything to a designated drive in real time and expect 8.1 does the same or similar and that the place designated have been removed or access lost for some reason. Pib
Sounds like you have "File History Backup" turned on and set to backup to a certain drive which is not connected.

lopburi3
It replaces the old backup/restore functions so really should be used if you have anything worth saving. This explains. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dn448546.aspx
