November 6, 200619 yr Whats his problem?? Throwing the dolly out the pram. No class whatsoever!! Pardew has been under so much pressure, they score a goal with a couple of minutes left, whats he supposed to do. You want to get with the programme Wenger, and when things do not go your way show some class. Refusing to shake hands at the end was a disgrace. I note today Pardew apologises for celebrating, thats your English good manners for you!!!! Wenger grow up!! Is this a foreign thing, I remember Mourinho doing something similar last year??
November 6, 200619 yr I think that there must have been more said than we know......I am very very surprised by Wenger's reaction..its not like him. If there was NOT more said than we are aware of then his reactions were disgraceful, but unless Pardew said something like "There you go see what having English players in your team does for you"...I really can't see Wenger's problem. I am sure he will account for his reaction sometime today..the press will not stop hounding him until he does, we have heard AP's side , I would very much lke to hear AW's side
November 6, 200619 yr I think that there must have been more said than we know......I am very very surprised by Wenger's reaction..its not like him. I agree with Pauly. Wenger is usually one of the most composed man Ive seen in football world. would have taken some nasty words to get him to react that way. speaking of which...did we ever find out why Zidane did what he did in his last game? I forgot already Edited November 6, 200619 yr by MiG16
November 6, 200619 yr Author I think that there must have been more said than we know......I am very very surprised by Wenger's reaction..its not like him. I agree with Pauly. Wenger is usually one of the most composed man Ive seen in football world. would have taken some nasty words to get him to react that way. speaking of which...did we ever find out why Zidane did what he did in his last game? I forgot already re Zidane, he objected to having his shirt pulled, and said something like " if you like my shirt so much you can have it after zee game", The defender (cant remember his name) said something along the lines " I would rather sh*g your sister" or words to that effect. Re Wenger, although mainly calm, he does from time to time throw a wobbly (re feud with Fergie), but he is a bad sport. Whenever they have a bad result he is forever complaining. Looking at the TV it appeared as though very little was initially said by Pardew. He was expressing his emotions, when it appeared as though Wenger objected to it and HE started the verbals. So unless Pardew said something along the lines of " hey you racist French poof, thats what yer get wiv a bit of jellied eel guvnor"................. then there was no reason for Wenger to react the way he did. Spoilt immature prat

However who was it that refused to shake hands?????? Give him a touchline ban until he learns the art of being a Gentleman
November 6, 200619 yr very true jackndanny, he has always come across as a french toss pot. arsenal are playing good but cannot finish there chances. pardrew apologised, but what for winger would not shake his hand, now i was brought up to be sporting and congratulate the oposition, maybe its a french thing.
November 7, 200619 yr You could see by AW's face a actions after the event that he felt a bit regretful. However, the bloke is more of a gentleman, more intelligent and calmer than nearly all the others. He would've had a ###### good reason to not want to shake hands, but I can guarantee they'll be ok sooner rather than later.
November 7, 200619 yr yes he did refuse handshake, and all the more reason for me to be curious about what went on between the 2 just prior. and as 2long said...you have to admit that he IS one of the more composed and calm guys you see around the EPL.

This is exactly the point I made in an earlier post. There are always two side to every story and I can't wait to here Wenger's
November 7, 200619 yr Wenger has been at this before. Last season with Martin Jol and previsouly with Fergie. If he doesnt get things going his way he is a very very bad loser! They showed more coverage of it on Sportscentre and it really looked like Wenger lost it. Pardews celebration was nothing compared to Mourinhos knee slide in midweek! Wenger didnt shake hands afterwards OR say anything to the Press (which i think they are obliged to do!). I cant see why Pardew apologised - he says he said nothing - and if he said nothing then there is no need to apologise! Its great to see passion and commitment - from players and managers - and after the game is over everyone should be able to shake hands and get on with it. Wenger needs to be taught a lesson in manners - i say ban him to the stands for the rest of the season. Maybe then his players can score!
November 7, 200619 yr Wenger needs to be taught a lesson in manners - i say ban him to the stands for the rest of the season. Maybe then his players can score! OI apple but cmon you gotta give it to him for being one of the best managers to put a team together. unlike a lot of big name teams he doesnt simply spend lots and lots of money and put a row of superstars on the team and hope they will all fit into the jigsaw. sure every now and then there are some big names that they would spend $ (or pounds!) on, but what ive observed is how he has trained many to be superstars in their own right as they grow with the team. and thats the main reason Arsenal is my fav team
November 7, 200619 yr He's passionate about his job and this has been blown out of all proportion. I support Man U and hate Arsenal!
November 9, 200619 yr He's passionate about his job and this has been blown out of all proportion.I support Man U and hate Arsenal! Well said. I sipport Chelsea and everyone hates the Gooners
November 9, 200619 yr Wenger is good at what he does,,no question. However, there are two things wrong with him. 1. He,s stuck up. 2.He,s French. The first problem could be over come, but it may be a result of his second problem, and for that ,there is simlpy no hope. Edited November 9, 200619 yr by soihok

So, according to you there are only two countries outside of England . . . Portugal and France. Perhaps your myopic view of the world would be enlightened somewhat by actually remembering that this is not the first time in the hisory of the game in England that a manager refused to shake hands . . . even an English one. But why let facts get in the way of a good story and a good dose of xenophobia. Having said that, I agree with you - no class whatsoever in this instance, I always rated him higher than most others, especially in the 'class' department but this was pathetic . . . Spur of the moment cancelling the post-game interview . . . hot head. Not having said a word since then - inexcusable.
November 11, 200619 yr I always rated him higher than most others, especially in the 'class' department is it ok to only quote the good part? sorry just me in denial

December 17, 200619 yr I'm a Gooner, so you must hate me. 10 grand fine should slow him down and he also got told off last night. For years I've been sticking up for him, but recently (a year or so) he's been a miserable French <deleted>. Maybe he always has been and my rose tinted glasses fooled me!
December 17, 200619 yr nah I think its just been recent months that Wenger has been acting out of his usual self I met him in real life and hes a really nice guy was with my brother when the Arsenal came to thailand back in 98, and we had a good chat by the pool of the hotel about how well they were doing (however must add that the next day they got beaten by the thai national team 2:1) oops too much partying...and a few months after that incidents Liverpool were in town..so their manager had strict instructions about no parties. getting off topic maybe...but again nice guy... another great guy that really really impressed me when we met Marc Overmars...a true gentleman. have always liked him as a footballer...but showing his gentlemanly ways very much added to the bonus points :D
