Single Entry Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, long time lurker but first time posting.

I have had a number of Visas (1 Double and 2 Single entries prior) and I'm currently on the 30 days extension of a Visa on arrival entry from Singapore.

The question I have is would I have any issues trying to obtain another single entry visa? The double and the single were done in Vientiane for the last 2 times. I would like another one as my girlfriend is currently teaching in Thailand but I am unable to as I don't have a 4 year degree.

Would I have any difficulties trying to get one in Laos again or anywhere else?

I think you have extended a visa exempt entry not a visa on arrival since those are only for 15 day after paying 1000 baht for it.

It is hard to predict whether you will be able to get another visa in Vientiane since you will be applying for your 4th visa from Vientiane and it appears that are back to back visas.

It would be best to try another embassy or consulate to get it. Perhaps Penang would do another one for you.

A single entry tourist visa could be obtained.

Be aware that tourist visas are not intended to facilitate a long term stay. If that is what you have in mind be aware that obtaining TV's will become increasingly difficult.

Thanks for the quick response ubonjoe, the first single was actually done in my home country (UK in this case) so this would be the 3rd requested from Vientiane. For a brief timeline here's how it went. I got the first single entry visa then arrived in Thailand on the 31st December 2015, stayed for the duration until March, spent 2 months in Vietnam and Cambo then came back.

So the past 2 have been back to back with the trip to Singapore putting me on the exempt one right now.

You should not have a problem getting another tourist visa in Vientiane since you have only gotten 2 before and also spent some time outside the country since the last one.

Thanks again, it was for a short stay of a few days to explore but I'm guessing this shouldn't effect it as I have been out correct?
