BANGKOK: -- The Office of the Auditor-General will be asked by a former Democrat MP to investigate into two allegedly dubious procurement projects of the City Hall.

Mr Wilas Chanpitak, former Democrat MP for Bangkok, told the media on Sunday that he would also ask the OAG to probe into the conduct of two Bangkok deputy governors, Mr Chumpol Sampaopon and Mr Amorn Kitchawengkul, in connection with the 39.5 million baht controversial light tunnel project.

Earlier, the OAG faulted the city administration of misusing the central fund for the light tunnel project. It also ruled that the project was overpriced.

Mr Wilas said he would like the OAG to investigate the company responsible for setting up the light tunnel over the firm’s handling of the City Hall’s publicity campaign and exhibition events for nine times worth about 36 million baht in 2010.

Also, the same company was contracted by the city administration to buy Thai musical equipments last budgetary year, said the former Democrat MP, adding he would ask the OAG to probe into the administration’s procurement of 20 water pumps worth about 934,000 baht each instead of about 400,000 baht as earlier quoted.
