Pattaya resident from Switzerland killed on motorcycle trip with friends

ROI ET: -- A Swiss man based in Pattaya was killed on a motorcycle while riding with French friends in the Roi-Et area of north eastern Thailand on Monday.

Jean Pierre Carrup (transliterated) aged 64 riding a Yamaha nmax was following his friends Mark, 60, and Raphael, 59, on the Roi-Et to Suwannaphum road. They were returning to the Frenchman's home district in Buriram at the time, reported Thairath.

Jean Pierre came off breaking his right leg and seriously injuring his head an injury from which he died later at Roi-Et Hospital. The accident had occurred at 2pm.

It is not known why he came off his motorcycle.

According to the article, his friends said they didn't know what caused him to fall. The police are investigating. The roads up there are terrible. With bad spots in the road and bad drivers.

RIP.

Europeans with no or very little experience riding big or in some cases any motor bikes will continue to rent the big bikes and learn the hard way that they are not Valentino Rossi..So head injury,No helmet may be ?

yamaha nmax is not a large bike, but a larger scooter with a 155cc. engine and front and rear disc brakes, similar to a pcx150.

Anyone over 60 is at risk operating a motorcycle.

As we age our balance and reflexes are not the same. Our tolerance to alcohol and prescription drugs is less as well.

Strokes, vertigo and heart attacks can be real ugly for an operator on a motorcycle while driving.

I specialized in Product Liabilty investigations for most motorcycle and tire manufacturers for 25 years and it seemed as motorcycles got more powerful more seniors died.

In my opinion at that age with serious head trama it's better to die than the other options, not to mention bankruptcy.

RIP
