Cheapest way to transfer money from a foreign bank account to a Thai bank account?

Featured Replies

Hello ThaiVisa,

Needing to transfer some money ($$$) from a foreign bank account to my K Bank account. Trying to avoid as many fees as possible. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a way to do it for free?

Cheers.

Transfer in $$$ to your k bank account. Cost will depend on your bank's policy, minimal charge from k bank.

Been a ton of threads on this one mate, but anyway. I always use a forex trader my preferred one is ozforex but there are plenty to choose from. They will give you a much better rate than the banks and the price you lock the deal in at is the amount you recieve. Amounts over 10000 dollars there is no transaction fee. I am with kasikorn and they charge somewhere @ 500 baht to process the transaction. Too easy. If it's only going to be a one off though you might use other methods but will probably get a lousy exchange rate and attract more fees. Cheers.

Like starkey says, Ozforex is good. Great service & now 24/7.

Cheers..... Mal.

Agreed, and you can do the transfer by a phone app once your set up in their system.

HSBC only charged equivalent of $6 for SWIFT transfer recently + the obligatory Thai bank charge. As said, send your home currency to get the Thai onshore rate.

Haha I just wish I had thrown another 10 or 20 thousand in the week before the Aussie dollar took that shellacking. Doesn't look like recovering any time soon either. :(

This is the cheapest way, I use their Android app frequently. https://transferwise.com/
