Can anyone connect to the 2Bangkok.com site?

get the message:

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

They have some great information, hope they didn't upset anyone too much.

I was worried about hotel payments I just made, but have since figured out the reservations are linked to different server (r24.org) that is still working.

Hi Guys,

No huge problems ...

All of Ron's sites are going to be down a few days. They got overwhelmed with hits during songkran and they are having to upgrade webhost.

Contacted Ron, got this reply :

Thanks for paying attention. :o

Even though I have been hosting with cihost for four years, they summarily cut off my account yesterday without warning. I worked all night escalating complaints through the various levels... All they can tell me is they think I violated 'bandwidth levels'--however my account is supposed to have unlimited bandwidth. I do realize that that for extraordinary use they may have to charge. However, no one at cihost seems particularly interested in helping me get back online. The best they do is tell me to input my credit card number on a certain page, but no one knows what the charges will be. No one is particularly interested in explaining why bandwidth levels on my account were suddenly in place. The worst thing is it was all without warning and no one can tell me how I can restore my account.

It has not yet been 24 hours since I have been offline. cihost has had my site down for up to three days in the past, so I am just trying to work this through before I get really angry and panic. I am thinking of switching to intermedia.net.

best

Why do you need 2bangkok.com when we have everything you need right here?

They are back up and have posted this:

Why was 2Bangkok.com unreachable? - April 22, 2004

Hundreds have been writing us and here is the explanation: Basically, the site is now too popular to host. In the past month and a half we have grown to 6500 unique IPs a day and the spike over Songkran blew it off the scale with over 200,000 page views of our Songkran page. We are working on a solution to keep 2Bangkok.com and related sites online. Hopefully, all will be back to normal soon. Feel free to spread this explanation around in case we go off the air again.

Just the squelch some rumors: 2Bangkok.com, Angkor.com, and our related sites were not forced off the net by any influential figures or government conspiracy from either here or abroad.

Complementary sites - Thai visa has a mainly expat correspondence base, 2Bangkok has a lot of Thai contributors, photos, news rather than opinions. (But the viewer input is better on TV)
