KRABI:-- Tourists and locals have joined forces to report the disgusting state of toilets on an idyllic beach on Koh Lanta.

The toilets are outside the local authority offices of Koh Lanta Noi and were erected for tourists but the municipality have let them go so they are filthy and without running water, reports Daily News.

One tourist said that no one will go there again if those are the kind of facilities on offer.

The taps are broken and there is no water in the makeshift rusty shed.

Local municipality spokesman Sujit Yonkit said that the building was a temporary one and there was a problem because water had stopped flowing to it. He even suggested that it had got dirtier because tourists had not taken any water with them when using the toilets.

He promised that a new set of toilets would be built soon.

Posters on an online news site were unimpressed: one, Suchart, said "The local authority don't care. This is the true Thai civil service for you."

While another, Sailom added: "They have just had several days off when they could have done something about this while the rest of us were working and paying our taxes so they could sit about."

"He even suggested that it had got dirtier because tourists had not taken any water with them when using the toilets."

If only TAT posted a warning to all tourists that they need to bring their own toilet water to be able to flush this would never have happened.

because tourists had not taken any water with them when using the toilets. Give me a break In the west they do not have ONE toilet that requires you to take water with you when you do your business. So how on earth are the tourists going to know to take it

Just very poor planing on the part of the town Very poor

They budgeted new toilets 7 times, but the money mysteriously disappeared! Time to budget for an 8th time! I wonder what will happen this time?

Don't go to the Philippines if dirty toilets and government corruption bothers you that much.
