NRSA's Seree has backed down on his proposed law to promote reconciliation

BANGKOK, 12 May 2016 (NNT) – A member of the National Reform Steering Assembly, who earlier proposed the passing of a new law that would give political offenders a reprieve from court proceedings and conviction, has backed down.

NRSA member Seree Suwannapanon, who is the chairman of the committee on political reform, said on Wednesday that his proposal was intended to help solve problems with legal cases, which have been going on at the court for a long time after the idea of an amnesty law was broadly rejected by the public.

Mr. Seree added that his proposed draft was supposed to be a start for more ideas to come in before a law, which is widely accepted, is agreed on.

But with strong opposition against his plan, he will stop it all and turn to work on the rehabilitation instead.

When asked about Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon’s disagreement with his proposal due to worries of escalating conflicts, Mr. Seree said that he has never thought of such possibilities and is ready to rework the idea and explain more to those who do not understand.

Seree has made a wise choice and frankly it shouldn't have been proposed in the first place.........................................coffee1.gif

What is needed is a fair trial not an amnesty.

ready to rework the idea and explain more to those who do not understand.

Welcome back to the NCPO fold Mr. Seree.

When Prauy wanted innovation, he didn't mean to mess with political reconciliation.
