BANGKOK: -- A group of followers of Phra Dhammachayo today (Monday) lodged a complaint with the National Anti-Corruption Commission accusing the Department of Special Investigation of malfeasance in office over the department’s handling of a criminal case against the embattled abbot of Wat Dhammakaya.

The group’s spokesman Mr Ong-art Thamnitha said that, if the NACC rejects or refuses to proceed with its petition, the group will file complaints with the NACC’s provincial offices and also to bring the case to the attention of all Damrongtham provincial offices.

Meanwhile, DSI chief Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang called a meeting with enquiry officers in charge of Phra Dhammachayo’s criminal case to consider the request of the monk’s lawyer for DSI officials to travel to the temple to formally notify the embattled monk of the charges for his acknowledge.

The personal doctor of Phra Dhammachayo has claimed that the monk is too sick to travel to the DSI office to acknowledge the charges of money laundering and receiving stolen property in connection with several cheques presented to the monk and the temple by the former management of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperatives.

Malfeasance is an affirmative act that is illegal or wrongful.

Give me a break.

If anything Phra Dhammachayo should have the charge of malfeasance laid against him along with many others.

Who are they - to demand?

What is wrong with the charges against dear abbot?

If NACC follows them - then we know about the understanding of democracy (... equality ...) in this country

And btw. with a DVT you can travel easily in an ambulance and under the appropriate treatment (anticoagulation)

If his doctors don't know this it's likely that they got their exam with cheating or a proxy - (or they just bluntly lie) they should immidiately get stripped of their certification to practice.

Why not ask qualified doctors after their oppinion?

Who are they? They are pawns in the hand of this sect. it is a powerplay. Non of them can afford to lose. It should not be the side of law and equality and justice. If they lose they show that either they are not serious with their policy against corruption or it is not them who are running the country. He seems to feel strong enough to play with the government. His strategy is the same that the Red Bull heir and Nattawut and Jatuporn successfully used. By now law enforcement should know better. They should be able to handle that - if they want.

By the way. This guy and his followers are not standing for Thai Buddhism. (I will not go into the question if Thai Buddhism is standing for Buddhism)
You can google for an article written by Dr Mano Laohavanich.
He had a leading position in the organization and disrobed.
They are teaching Meditation. When people feel better after some practice (which is normal), they are thankful for their improvement. Then they are told that they are very important to the abbot who did them good already and is the one fighting against evil(!) in the world - and their money would be urgently needed ... and that's not the end - then the exploitation starts.

Add orange to the volatile color mix of yellow and red. Orange can implode with the 2 opposite sides. Beware the ides of March coming in the form of the orange revolution if the government mishandle.

To extend your nice metaphor, the good abbot's problems stem from being a rather reddish shade of orange, whereas if you are on the yellowish side like Phra Buddha Isara you can break the law with impunity.

He has done nothing more than religious leaders have been doing for millennia, stealing from his flock - look to the Vatican for an example of how to do this, however he was in with the wrong people in the past and now needs to face the music. Its enough to make you sick!

I will add green to this conundrum of colour now that it's showing signs of cracking. Problem is everyone steal from the flock be it religious leaders, politicians, uniforms or government officials and as you said correcly, facing the music depends on whether you with the right or wrong side. Yes, it does make us sick.

So you think he does not deserve to face the music because he is on the "wrong side"?

Sure he deserves to face the music in the same way as Isara and Suthep and Prayuth himself and Jatuporn, Yingluk and many others, deserve to face the music, and his evasions are cowardly and small minded. However he cannot expect a fair trial because of which side of the divide he was, and that to me is wrong.
