Visa for sponsor your son or daughter

Featured Replies

Dear members i looka arround on the fora to find info about the sponsor visa.

I understand you have to go to a embassy with your childs birth certificate and ask for visa.

Can somebody tell me the exact way ?

Kind regards

Bob

Could you clarify what visa your talking about.

Do you mean a non immigrant O visa for having a Thai child ?

I assume you do,if that's the case then the requirements are different depending on where you wish to obtain said visa.

You will need to supply more information to allow others to answer your queries.

  1. What is your nationality?
  2. In what country do you live?
  3. Do you want a visa valid for a single entry into Thailand or multiple entries?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Not sure what you are looking for there is no "Sponsor Visa"

Are you the parent of a Thai child, married to the child's Thai mother? If not are you the legal (In Thai Terms) father of a Thai child?

Does your name appear on a Thai child's birth certificate ?

What is your nationality ?

Answer some , preferably all of these questions and someone will explain what options may be available.

Are you asking about a visa for the child or yourself?

If for your child it would be for them to get a non-o visa as your dependent? Are you on an extension of stay?

Or are you asking about a non-o visa for being their parent?

Hello Thanks for help.

I am belgium citizen .

I have my son on a international school in Phuket.

I hear that peoplle get a visa if the show a bank statement from 500k , and show birth certificate at embassy.

Does somebody know about this ?

By the way My son have a belgium and thai pasport.

Regards

Bob

The 500k baht number is for a parent of a non Thai child that is attending school to get an extension of stay based upon being their parent.

If you are the legal parent of your child by marriage or legitimization you could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai at immigration. You would need 400k baht in a Thai bank to get the extension.

You also might be able to get a multiple entry non-o visa at an embassy or consulate. The visa would allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year.

The only nearby consulate that will do one for your unless your child and their mother is with you is Penang. Latest reports are that 400k baht needs to be shown to get one.

If the birth certificate is in Thai or English it does not have to be translated. You will need the birth certificate plus a copy and copy of their house book registry.

I'm lost, the OP said his son has a Belgian and a Thai passport so why does his son need any visa to enter / to be in Thailand?

Am I missing something?

I took it to mean the fathers permission to stay in the Kingdom once he secures a visa from a consulate in a satelite state that can be extended locally.

The school probably means you can get a single entry Non O (almost) anywhere, that permits a 90-day entry, and you would then extend in country. @ubonjoe's advice (which you can trust) is that you only have a chance of the multiple entry Non O in Penang (among countries close to Thailand). You could probably also get one back in your home country, though this is not always true.

You need nothing from the school to get a single entry non-o visa based upon being the parent of a Thai. Just their birth certificate and house book registry copies. In Penang you will also need to show 200k baht in the bank or proof of income to get a single entry non-o visa.

As soon as the embassy, consulate, or immigration sees your child's birth certificate that indicates they are Thai they will deny the visa or extension application based upon being the parent of child attending school.

A single entry visa only allows one 90 day entry.

If you are the legal parent of your child by marriage or legitimization you can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai. You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank or proof of 40k baht income.

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your child with any type of entry.

You could get a multiple entry non-o visa in Penang if you can show the 400k baht in the bank or income.

It seems you do not meet the requirements I posted.

The certainly will be closed on the 2nd since that is a Thai holiday  The 3rd is also a holiday that was recently added so not sure about that day since they have not updated their list of holidays yet. No Malaysian holidays for that week was listed for 2016.
