is a heath insurance required to work for a thai private company?

Featured Replies

hi all.

I want to know if a health insurance is required for someone hired in Thailand by a private company.

and who pay for it?

Every thai company I have worked for supply health insurance as part of my contract

If they are paying socical security for you believe you get a medical card and insurance of sorts, never used it as the company pays for a private medical insurance policy for all employees, if Thai its a local one, for the expats its an international policy valid everywhere except 'merica...

No. Private medical insurance is not a requirement.

It's the sensible choice though.

I think it s the law for a private Company to have coverage for farang.

I don't think that the ministry of work would be happy if farang got accident and no way to go home for treatment or letting a big unpaid bill in Thailand.

Well its not law....if the company is paying social security for said farang they are entitled to a Thai medical card which provides basic medical insurance and treatment at a government hospital
