If I end my monthly rental in Udon Thani and move to Ubon Rachathani -

What about changing residence if I stay in a hotel for a few weeks. Do i have to go to immigration within 24 hours if I'm staying in a hotel in Ubon ?

yes the hotel does report

Once i stayed at a hotel in Maha Sarakhom - apparently they were not reporting ( 5 months ).

It was somewhat of a problem when I then did the OA extension.

When I moved to Udon the owner of the Mansion here was requested to come to the immigration office and sign something ( was very fast but ? )

I am hoping to make things easy and just stay at a hotel until I can find a monthly rental.

As soon as you get settled in permanently you should submit a TM28 change of address form with proof of residence attached. They probably will want a completed TM30 form also.
