PM asks volleyball team to concentrate on remaining matches

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha gave moral support to the Thai female national volleyball team despite their loss to Japan in what many Thais deem as a “robbery” of victory from Thailand.

Government spokesman Maj-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the prime praised the Thai team of having fought with dignity and that the team and its staff coach had done their best.

The prime minister went on to say in every sports match, the decision of the referee or umpire is final which should be respected by the athletes. He also advised the volleyball players to forget about the defeat and to concentrate on the remaining matches for the country and the Thai people, said the spokesman.

Meanwhile volleyball team manager Phisit Natthee said the team would lodge a petition through the Thai Volleyball Association to the FIVB to probe the ethical conduct of the Mexican referee of the match between Thailand and Japan.

The Mexican gave the Thai team two red cards for deliberately delaying the game.

He's really a multi purpose PM: weather report presenter, sports coach, school principal....

you forgot nutter

Is there any issue, no matter how small or insignificant that our glorious leader does not consider?

A great helmsman, to guide us through these dangerous waters.

He has to consider small and insignificant issues now because due to his application and diligence LoS has no major issues to face.

It's no mean feat to sort out the lottery and organise bike events / bike lanes. whistling.gifrolleyes.gif

He is ignored by a EU delegation for the prior elected PM.

So being a father figure to luckless possibly robbed volley ball players leading 12-6 in deciding game ( only up to 15 in 5th set) and choke and get two red cards to boot.

I joked with my partner who was watching it live that the referee was told to not allow them to win as he uses it for propaganda purposes.

She looked livid after the match .

The PM can be taken serious in matters of woman's volley ball and his advice was good.

But by sheer association pretending to represent Thai people ...it's more a case of him being out to scores few points too.

Meanwhile delegations talk to people on more worldly matters than qualifying for Rio Games.

The men have drawn Japan & Australia in the soccer Qualifications , lets see what he says then.

I noticed on social media Thais asking Japanese get expelled for unfairly defeating Thailand .

Glad the general hasn't taken it to heart.

He needs though some joy in Thai achievements so he can do some more pretend graciousness .

I wonder if a Thai competitor used the Games to protest about oppression what would happen.

Maybe seek refugee status after it?

Theses kind of things are not out of the question anymore.

Mean time I tell my girlfriend maybe the referee or officials simply didn't like an undemocratic country winning their way to the games?

I think we might see more red cards on and off the field where Thailand is concerned

captain queeg could not guide the uss caine through dangerous waters and he was a better sailor than this bloke.

I'm still awaiting inspirational words on my game of scrabble last night but I know it will come. He's a busy man

yes busy, i hope you are holding 5 vowels and 2 blanks.

There has been much criticism of the self appointed PM on the grounds that he seized power illegally, is temperamentally a disturbed six year old, doesn't understand economic management, leads an unpleasant repressive regime and is incompetent to boot.Whether there is anything to these charges I could not possibly comment. However my view is that he has his own vision which one must respect even if it leads to Bedlam. But on this one point both friends and foes must agree - he has his priorities right. His rousing call to the nation's volleyball players shows this clearly.

Listening and respecting the referee is a subtle message

He being the article 44 boy ( referee )

If he says your foul and get off ....well that's what's happening.

Loved the captain Queeg post.Great movie.Bogart at his best.Rolling the ball bearings,a real paranoid.Just like our great leader.

The lessons they should take away from that match : never write off the Japanese even when they look down and out; what's on the scoreboard at full time usually sticks and tough though it is, get over it and move on. First time since the beach chairs triumph I can fully agree with the General.

Red cards

Teaching them the junta has no currency in Japan

I prefer Japanese volleyball players. More bounce in their play.
