EC explains how referendum will be held to politicians

BANGKOK, 20 May 2016 (NNT) - The government and the Election Commission (EC) have jointly held a meeting with representatives of political parties and groups to explain how the referendum will be held.

The meeting was held at the Army Club on Vibhavadi Road, where 133 people from political parties attended. EC President Suphachai Somcharoen said at the beginning of the meeting that the voting process will only be fair if voters are not misled. They must also have a good understanding of the draft constitution.

Member of the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) Prapan Naiyakowit said the commission took six months to carefully draft the constitution and align it to match public opinion. He added that the draft constitution fully protects public rights and prevent corruption.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngarm said the government will work in collaboration with the commission to ensure peace during the referendum.

Now of course I do wonder why politicians need to be singled out. Is it because normal people know how to vote ?
