BANGKOK, 23 May 2016 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has offered his congratulations to Russian students who have defeated competitors from around the world, in an international software competition recently held in Phuket.

Maj. Gen. Sunsern Kaewkumnerd, spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office, said that PM Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has congratulated students from St. Petersburg State University, Russia, who were declared the champions in the ACM-ICPC World Final 2016 — one of the world’s longest-running and best-recognized computer programming contests for university students.

The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation of their efforts, to the 128 students from 40 universities who qualified to take part in the final round of this year’s competition in Phuket, said Maj. Gen. Sunsern.

He added that PM Prayut had stated that these students are a truly valuable resource for their respective countries and they are the generation that will introduce major changes to the world.

The Thai Prime Minister also urged all parties to work harder in planning and promoting opportunities for youth to demonstrate their capabilities and innovative skills, which will be beneficial for mankind and help solve such problems as social inequality, the government spokesman added.
