PM welcomes Thai women's volleyball team at Government House

BANGKOK, 26 May 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has welcomed Thai women volleyball players at Government House, calling on all to maintain sportsmanship and refrain from trashing competitors as seen recently on social media.

The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha had invited the Thai women's volleyball team to meet him at Government House, as he wished to praise their accomplishments in the Olympics selection competition.

He said the Thai team had shown determination and concentration to compete with all their might despite not being able to compete in the actual Olympic games. He has also asked all athletes not to criticize Japan which was the competitor in the controversial match, and to respect the judgement.

The Prime Minister presented them with OTOP bags and diary notebooks as souvenirs of the occasion; team members then gave volleyball game balls bearing their autographs to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, and the Minister of Tourism and Sports. The PM also took the opportunity to practice volleyball moves with the team on the relaxed occasion at Government House.

Basking in reflected glory, again.

However, whilst putting up a sterling effort, they failed to qualify.

So perhaps the phrase should be "like attracts like"?

The PM is also pretty good at throwing the ball into another's court leaving them to deal with the issue.

Loved his "serve". He hit an overhead smash directly at a player standing about 2 meters away. Thankfully it shot well over her head.

Was the coach present? Or is he out for an AA session?

Spot On Geordie.

Give him anything that remotely smells of a positive PR stunt and he's all over it.

Anything negative is ignored or dismissed as coming from people who don't understand Thainess.

Where is he on major issues, for example total silence of the disgraceful handling of the case involving the monk running rings around the DSI and legal system ?

Real headline would be a bit odd: National Sports team fails to qualify for Olympics (Same olympics that had a guy from Equatorial Guinea swim 100m in 1:50 odd) and Prime Minister takes time out of schedule to meet with them

More "wrapped candy" for the general?

...sadly a reflection of the attitude..."If they are wrong...or they lose....someone else is to blame"....

Maybe the Thai's don't understand "worldness" or the world doesn't understand "thainess"
