You can roll back the Windows 10 update if you want to - Google for it; it's an easy thing to do. While Windows 10 is a very good operating system there are privacy concerns with it, it certainly is a form of adware and it can "break" older programs and bespoke programs.

However, an update shouldn't change the connection to the internet. Have you tried deleting the old connection and re-entering your password, etc?

Currently the (somewhat controversial) automatic updates of Windows 10 are free, just be aware that Windows 10 will not be free if you decide later to install it (excluding if it comes on new PC). It is a good OS though, it is lean & runs well on older hardware; plus they brought back the familiar 'desktop/taskbar' interface.
