BANGKOK, 30 May 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Industry has initiated a project entitled “SMEs Spring Up”, hoping to increase the potential of Thai businesses.

Atchaka Sibunruang, the minister for industry, chaired the opening of the “SMEs Spring Up” project which aims to improve the abilities of small and medium sized businesses in Thailand. More than 100 businesses have been recruited to join the project.

Under the “SMEs Spring Up” project, the government will educate participating entrepreneurs on quality control, quality enhancement, innovation, research and development, and leadership. In addition, they will learn how to successfully run a business through the eyes of experienced businesspersons and influential business gurus.

According to the minister, “SMEs Spring Up” is the first of its kind. All participants will be followed up and evaluated throughout the entire project in order to ensure concrete and positive results.

“SMEs Spring Up”

Or is it "SMEs Fall Back"?

Despite millions of baht, tax relief and equity injection for SMEs by the Prayut regime, the SME Competitiveness Index for the first quarter this year edged down to 48.4 from 50 during the same period last year. When an economy collapses, SMEs are the first victims.
