Thailand to become ASEAN hub of justice affairs

BANGKOK, 1 June 2016 (NNT) - The Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) is planning to turn Thailand into an ASEAN hub of justice affairs, after joining the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program Network (PNI) last week.

According to TIJ Director Kittipong Kittayarak, Thailand’s membership in the PNI became effective after the institute signed an agreement with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Austria on May 24.

Having become a PNI member, Dr. Kittipong said Thailand will have an active role in the global community, particularly in fields related to legal developments and the improvement of the justice system for UN members nations.

The TIJ will incorporate international guidelines into the Thai justice system for greater transparency, allowing independent watchdogs to probe its integrity. The TIJ will also prepare Thailand to become a hub for a strategic movement to stop crimes against women and children, as well as to promote social unity.

They have got to be kidding me! Thailand a Hub of Justice Affairs. Well, if they really mean "talk" (blah...blah...blah) about justice but not really implement justice (or democracy) then Thailand is already a hub.

As Tom Lehrer said when Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace prize: 'Satire died'

Hang on a sec, it's the 1st of June, not April! Thailand a hub of justice affairs? Try telling that to the thieving Police and the Courts who wrongly convict Burmese to protect powerful local entities. This has got to be some kind of joke. Thailand is rapidly becoming Disneyland with a death sentence!

"The Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) is planning to turn Thailand into an ASEAN hub of justice affairs..."

Did they legalize cannabis while I was sleeping?

If not, there is nothing these guys can refrain from in order to stop sounding so out of touch with reality.

who writes or is silly enough to believe this S!h!t................................cheesy.gif

The hub of strategic movement.

Yep, I can feel one coming on right now.........................................coffee1.gif

Thailand is just an also ran in so many of the criteria for being a hub of "Justice Affairs".

Actual justice, the far from perfect system in Singapore is streets ahead, even Indonesia is ahead of Thailand.

Kleptocracy, Thailand could learn from Malaysia and Philippines.

Corruption, right up there, but not what the TIJ wants.

Maybe they should look to play to their strengths.

This article is a prime example of why clichès exist......

"You couldnt make it up!"

Seriously, are they taking the p..s.

The UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program Network = ( PNI ). How does that acronym work then???

OK, Own up, which English teacher taught the Thais the word 'Hub' ????

And the only thing I can see Thailand fast becoming is the Hub Of Acronyms. ( HOA )

I guess, that being that this news has actually come from the NNBoT, it must be believed. Or is it that they themselves, just truly believe that they can achieve this level of credibility??

"The TIJ will incorporate international guidelines into the Thai justice system for greater transparency, allowing independent watchdogs to probe its integrity."

"Having become a PNI member, Dr. Kittipong said Thailand will have an active role in the global community, particularly in fields related to legal developments and the improvement of the justice system for UN members nations"

JING LOHR????????, maybe someone should go tell the two Burmese guys, that everything is gonna be OK now, and that the investigation will be totally, transparently reviewed by independent watchdogs and that they will be going home to their families soon.

Yeah right.

Yeah right justice hub.... more like non justice to me judging from the very light sentence

the drunk driver woman got..... in order to be a hub, you need to set an example of justice

being done, and not a mockery.......

I feel a fart coming...

Good to know that Thailand has replaced April Fool's Day to be June 1st. gigglem.gif

Is this some sick joke? How much respect does the UN have for a military dictatorship which makes up it's own rules of justice on a day by day basis?

TVF owes me a coffee proof keyboard.

For once: why not? It can only improve things

Oh come on, they don't even know what the word justice means, let alone being the Asean hub.

TVF owes me a coffee proof keyboard.

And I banged my head falling off my chair.

Who do I sue?

Thailand = The best justice money can buy.

I cannot understand how this topic has received a single word so far when the only thing to post is:
