BANGKOK: -- The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation today sought the transfer of investigation of the grisly finding of a large number of tiger carcasses at the Tiger Temple from local police to central police.

The requested transfer of investigation responsibility from Sai Yok police to national police office came as the department’s deputy director-general Adisorn Noochdamrong had gained information that the seizure of the large number of tiger carcasses at the temple might be involved with an illicit wildlife trade case in 2015.

Mr Adisorn brought with him all information and evidence regarding the tiger carcasses and parts to submit to the deputy commissioner of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Chalermkiat Srivorakan this morning.

During the meeting, he sought the transfer of investigation from local police to a special team of police of the Royal Thai Police.

He said so far local police have filed charges against three monks and two men for having carcasses and parts of protected species in possession without official permit.

Pol Gen Chalermkiat will inspect the Tiger Temple tomorrow and call meeting with local police to wrap up investigation.

More people might be called to face further charges.

Are they suspicious that local police might be complicit in the crimes?

Or do they know that there are "safe" investigating officers in Bangkok who will be able to protect the VIPs in charge better than the local BIB?

So it took 10 years to bother busting them? Is this the result of our current Government? No others seemed to bother...
