UK Pounds.

I have a cheque for 100 GBP from a Scottish bank, anyone know if I can change it from my Bangkok bank into GBPs?

If this can be done, what will the charge will be? Thanks.

Thread on this lately, takes 40 days about to clear and a charge of a few hundred baht

A cheque drawn on a UK bank can be deposited, from my experience it took about 6 weeks or more. They used the exchange rate of the day the funds arrived. This might have changed since I don't make a habit of it, and it was several years ago.

You cannot exchange for Pounds.

Your bank can only collect the proceeds for you - in line with the timescale quoted above - and credit you in Baht (unless you have a Sterling account).

OK thanks everybody, I will just take it with me to the UK when I go there soon.

It must me cashed before 6 months, and I arrive in the UK with about 3 days to spare.

Couldn't you just send the cheque & a paying-in slip by post, to your bank in the UK ?

This works fine for me, with my HSBC-account in Jersey, for the occasional small-cheque (birthday-presents, etc).
