Court may be the final arbiter regarding the gas pipeline conflict

The long-standing conflict between the Office of the Auditor-General and PTT Public Company over the gas pipeline may finally be resolved in the courtroom, said Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Kruea-ngarm on Wednesday.

The OAG has claimed that PTT Plc has not returned all the gas pipelines to the state and, if they cannot be returned, PTT will have to pay the state about 36 billion baht in compensation as ruled by the Supreme Administrative Court. However, PTT has maintained all the pipelines have been returned to the state and the OAG as well as other state agencies have been mistaken all along about the matter.

Representatives of the OAG, PTT, Finance Ministry, the Office of Attorney-General and the Council of State met on Tuesday to discuss the controversial issue but the matter remain inconclusive, said Dr Wisanu.

The deputy prime minister said he didn’t find it weird for the two conflicting parties, PTT and Finance Ministry, to engage in a discussion because they are both state agencies and they are not enemies.

The OAG has wanted the Council of State to interpret the ruling of the Supreme Administrative Court ordering the splitup of pipeline network.

Only in Gagaland could 2 state agencies misinterpret a contractural obligation, be mistaken, remain inconclusive and fight over an asset that may or may not exist.

Similar to Thai democracy but dissimilar to the current level of government intelligence which is confirmed to be non existent on a daily basis.
