Thawat Kajornchaikul, also known as Sia Tong, in blue cap, speaks to officers and the media Wednesday afternoon outside his house in Kanchanaburi city.

KANCHANABURI — The owner of a home where authorities suspect tigers linked to the now shuttered Tiger Temple were slaughtered went public Wednesday afternoon to deny the allegations.

Thawat Kajornchaikul, aka Sia Tong, appeared at 2:30pm on Wednesday at the residence he owns in Kanchanaburi city, where four tigers were found locked in cages. The 60-year-old man showed documents he said showed he was authorized to possess the four protected animals and has the property rights to his residence.

Trust me, iam Thai!

No one anywhere should have the right to keep an animal in a bloody cage, particularly endangered species such as these. What was he doing keeping four tigers this way? Hardly 'pets' are they?

Happy to see other establishments such as Hua Hin Zoo and Sri Racha being investigated, animals rescued, hopefully this nationwide atrocity will continue to be stopped.

In other news the disgrace that is the 'tiger temple' abbot did turn up at the press conference - in a golf cart in which he was proceeded to be driven around, and not uttering a word. Lock the bastard UP.

Owner of... But here in LOS Brussels or Brasil same same but different... ?

So a mate rocks up ten years ago and says here you go mate have a couple of tigers.

Sweet I will build a couple of cages and breed a few more.

No malicious intent I'm sure they enjoyed the 10 years locked up in a cage with a concrete floor.

Now lets see some action on that atrocious "zoo" in Lad Ya, Kanchanaburi, owned by the Army base. Gibbons, monkeys, Bears and other wild animals locked in small concrete boxes that wreak of urine and feces. An absolute disgrace to the Army.

But, but,...my tigers were imported from China...

Could "Sia Tong" perhaps care to explain for what purpose exactly he set up the slaughterhouse allegedly found on his premises?

Apart from that, I am pretty sure it was as illegal to privately own tigers ten years ago as it is today. Who issued that permit and on what grounds? Who was that buddy who so generously just gifted two tigers to "Sia Tong" and on what occasion? it's a rather unusual gift from whatever angle one looks at it.

Are the two older tigers a male and a female? How else does "Sia Tong" explain the presence of the two younger tigers, who he claims to be the offspring of the first couple? Is it not illegal to privately breed tigers? Does he have a license for that?

Grill the crap out of this man, because I smell a rat (especially when I hear that his nickname title is "Sia")!

His first AKA name is Ting cheesy.gif cause you got to be crazy to come up with this as a defense..

....do they expect someone to volunteer the truth...especially if incriminating....

...never could figure that logic out....

Not often you could describe a low life, but here's one wearing a blue cap, they all should be hung up by the goolies under the overpass at Silom, and left to rot.............................coffee1.gif .

Why are Asians (generally) so insensitive to the plight of animals, even now the actions of the tiger temple and this rich chinese raise nothing but a yawn from the local people..."he's rich, he's making good money, they're only animals anyway!" I guess it's an asian thing?? facepalm.gifsad.pngwai.gif

Hey Mister ---can't you read----He has denied all of that rubbish ------------ wonder why he did not confess if he is guilty?

well okay even if your telling the truth - what the hell you doing with 4 tigers anyway? i say throw him in the cage and see if if he has really been looking after them, they shouldn't rip him to shreds if he cared for them...

Farm Chokchai has a large private collection of albino animals including tigers and a black panther (not of course albino). They have already been shown to be land encroachers - perhaps time to go back and release the animals?

And the 400+ tigers in the Sri Racha zoo.

Could "Sia Tong" perhaps care to explain for what purpose exactly he set up the slaughterhouse allegedly found on his premises?

This is just a guess (and I am not trying to defend the caging of these tigers in terrible conditions)... but if you have to feed 4 fully grown tigers you will need to butcher many, many other animals.

Anyone ever, ever, remember A thai taking responsibility for anything? Always.always deny deny deny.

Didn't know about that. Hope they do something then, but don't hold your breath.

I'm surprised he didn't use the drug mule's excuse " I don't know where they came from, someone must have put them there. "

This may be a surprise, but the tigers would prefer that you didn't go to all that trouble, and chucked in lunch still kicking.

Just to point out: tigers are only endangered in the wild. Captive tigers are easy to breed. That argument doesn't apply.

Sounds like you want to ban all zoos, even keeping birds in cages. Good luck with making a consistent case on that.

Actually the latter is a huge problem as it is seriously endangering many species of birds which are taken from the wild for the purpose. Captive tigers are a much lesser problem in comparision. Besides, if anyone is naive enough to suppose that trafficking of tiger parts is not rife in the scores of places licensed and unlicensed to keep tigers in Thailand (why does Sri Racha zoo need 400 of them?), they know nothing about human nature.

All of which is to say: get some perspective.

Missing from this is the usual line ' has links to a powerful local figure '.

In this case possibly not a politician but someone wearing an orange robe.
