Yes bank can be Australian bank account. Needs to be Thai bank if applying for non o outside of Australia.

Note you can post your application to Canberra. Good service.

If you are applying for a OA visa at the embassy in Canberra or the official consulate in Sydney the money can be in a bank in Australia.

If applying for an extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon retirement at immigration here it has to be in Thai bank.

Bank a/c in either country,

I think the Consulates forward it onto the Embassy for approval.

I filed by midday Monday in Perth (mail to Canberra), approved Friday, released Monday and received in W.A. country on Wednesday.

I have never heard of a honorary consulate accepting a OA visa application and then forwarding it for approval to a embassy.

Sydney is a official consulate and can accept and approve the application.

thank you for the info, also my pension does not come to 65000 a month, but i have the equivalent of 5,000,000 in the bank in oz baht that is,do they take this into account when processing the visa. also when supplying the travel info with return flight how do you book the dates,e.g. 1month stay,3 months stay or other. sorry to be a nuisance but it is sometimes a bit confusing

You can use the 5,000,000 alone or you could use your annual income and money in the bank combined to reach the equivalent of 800k baht. From the embassy website.

"A bank statement showing a deposit at the amount equal to no less than 800,000 Baht, or an income statement (an original copy) with a monthly salary of no less than 65,000 Baht, or a deposit account plus monthly income of no less than 800,000 Baht a year;"
