NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 10 June 2016 (NNT) - The deputy mayor of Guigang City in China has visited Nakhon Si Thammarat Province to discuss trade cooperation with the southern province.

On the visit the deputy mayor of Guigang City, Ms. Wei Zhaohui met with Nakhon Si Thammarat governor Peerasak Hinmuangkao and representatives of public and private agencies. Guigang is a prefecture-level city in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

During the meeting, Mr. Peerasak proposed that Guigang City consider importing major products of Nakhon Si Thammarat, such as bird’s nest, rubber, oil palm, seafood and fruit, or opening factories using the raw materials available in the province. The governor also talked about numerous tourism attractions which could be new destinations for Chinese visitors.

Ms. Wei Zhaohui said importing agricultural products from Nakhon Ratchasima was possible, as vehicles and timber furniture were the major industries of Guigang. As for tourism, the deputy mayor of Guigang City commented that Chinese tour operators may first need to explore the possibility of promoting tours to the South and neighboring countries. She also voiced her support for academic exchange programs between Thai and Chinese teachers and students.

Governor Peerasak later invited Ms. Wei Zhaohui to join him on a tour of a product fair at the city hall. The deputy mayor of Guigang City meanwhile invited Thai operators to showcase their products at an upcoming trade fair to be held in August in Guigang City.
