PHUKET: A Phuket City Police officer is dead and an another police officer is in critical condition following a shoutout between an officer moonlighting as a Phuket Town pub security guard and a group of officers looking to inspect the nightlife venue.

Lt Col Taksin Pinyathepprathan of the Phuket City Police was called at 12:40am to investigate shots fired near the Seahorse Circle in Phuket Town.

Police arrived with Kusoldharm rescue workers to find L/Cpl Wongsathon Theparan of the Kathu Police (Thung Thong) slumped in the driver’s seat of his Isuzu pickup truck, parked next to Kao Tom Sor-eung Restaurant, on the east side of the Seahorse Circle.

L/Cpl Wongsathon had three bullet wounds: two in his chest, and one in his leg.

On the ground next to the pickup was Lt Thamarong Suwanchatree of the Phuket City Police with a serious gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.

“Both men were taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where Lt Thamarong was pronounced dead on arrival and L/Cpl Wongsathon remains in critical condition,” Col Taksin told The Phuket News.

Another one for the Darwin award.

What are these people doing out late at night with hand guns? Late night dinner with friends. Better go tooled up, innit.

Will there be a thorough enquiry. Alcohol and drug tests, financial records audited?

After reading the full article have learned the right cop died.

How do you work that one out? From the article the guy who fired first is still alive................

“Lt Thamarong approached L/Cpl Wongsathon, who was still sitting in his pickup truck, and according to witnesses, L/Cpl Wongsathon opened the car door and fired at Lt Thamarong at close range,” he said.

They will be sadly missed.

you are kidding, its a reflection of the youth of this country in a position of responsibility. They do not get mental exams prior to joining. Some bullshit police training, given a gun and uniform.

That's 2 least policemen to re-assign to another corrupt location.

Police now being gunned down on Phuket.

Pretty much sums up "law and order" on the island.

I went to Phuket once back in 2010, stayed there for 4 days and vowed never to go back. A list of reasons not to as long as my arm

Was one of those reasons the self-proclaimed 'ice-man'? giggle.gif

All jokes aside ...

these oxygen-thieves could've been fighting for anything as little as a parking space under a tree. The RTP brain is far from complex.

Condolences to their families that are left to pick up the pieces.

to protect and serve ?

Protect ones self and serve it up to everyone else!

About time the PM, aka military, started cleaning up the RTP! Too many seem to be a corrupt law unto themselves. Who are they answerable to?

Can the PM do it or have the clout and will to clean up the RTP?. Sure he has done some good things - like stopping the lawless street riots of the political factions and trying to get the economy up and running again.

But he will also be long remembered for what he was unable or unwilling to do. coffee1.gif

These nonlinear narrative articles are quite difficult to follow, especially when the names of the subjects don't stick to memory.
If someone managed to decode what actually happened, please draw a flow chart or timeline of the events.

This naturally should be the work of the editor of the reporting newspaper.
