BANGKOK, 13 June 2016 (NNT) – The Director General of the Community Development Department has disclosed that the OTOP MIDYEAR 2016 event was very well received and generated a cash flow of almost 450 million baht in six days. The event aims to encourage OTOP manufacturers to present their quality products and increase marketing possibilities.


Community Development Department Director General Aphichart Todilokwet said that OTOP Midyear 2016 fair has been held on the theme "Diversity in Thailand Can Be Found in Only One Place" at Challenger Halls 1-3, from June 6-13, Muang Thong Thani exhibition complex. Visitors could select 3-5 star products from 76 provinces being sold at the event.

In the past six days, there have been over 200,000 visitors and the event has generated a cash flow of almost 450 million baht. Interested individuals are invited to visit the OTOP Midyear 2016 during on its last day.

We knock Thailand a lot but I think they have really got this event right.

No mention of the promotional and other costs. Otop spend a lot of money on this when they have temp markets in the Malls. Hundreds of thousands of baht on concerts for a week, not moaning they are great but not sure they are as successful as the article implies. Also it was meant to be one tambom one product, but half of it these days is silk and expensive jewelry

You're talking about the OTOP fair whereas the real life application of the policy is odd. Drive along Asia highway and you'l come across 1km of dried fish, then 1km of Salapao, then 1 km of dried bananas etc. When there are 50 stalls connected that sell exactly the same product the average customer assumes everyone is working together. In reality the 1st few and the last few stores always get the least customers.
