May Ratchanok appointed as Thai Cultural Ambassador

BANGKOK, 15 June 2016 (NNT) - Minister of Culture Veera Rojpojanarat on Tuesday presented a plaque of honor to “May” Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand’s first-ever badminton world champion, and awarded her the title of cultural ambassador.

The minister also gave traditional Thai dresses to May Ratchanok who recently won three badminton tournaments in three consecutive weeks, including Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters, India Open Superseries and Malaysia Open Superseries.

As the Thai cultural ambassador, May Ratchanok will help promote Thai culture such as smiling and “Wai” greeting.

May Ratchanok said she was glad to be given the cultural ambassador title and she would set a cultural example for Thai youth. As for the coming Olympic games, she said she would do her best to win for Thais.
