webfact Posted June 16, 2016 Share Posted June 16, 2016 Temple drugs party - five novices nabbedImage: Daily NewsNAKHON SO THAMMARAT: -- Police raided a temple in Nakon Si Thammarat yesterday arresting five novice monks and three lay helpers who were drinking krathom tea laced with other drugs.The young monks were reported by villagers fed up with their antics at the temple of Wat Sa Riang, in Ratchadamnoen Road in the downtown area of the southern town reported Daily News.Police raided their quarters on the second floor at the temple and found a pot containing krathom leaves and five Xanax (Alprazolam) a drug used to treat panic disorders and anxiety.All those arrested were aged 16 - 17. Most novice monks are there out of custom and tradition not trying to achieve Nirvana These things are to be expected, occasionally. Indeed, but seems even senior monks are not interested in enlightenment either; well, the spiritual kind that is. They are just blokes in orange cloth.
