Euro 2016: 20 Russians deported from France after football violence

A group of 20 Russian football fans were expelled from Euro 2016 host country France on Saturday following serious unrest surrounding their team’s opening match against England in Marseille.

The deported Russians left a detention centre in the city bound for Nice to board a flight back to Moscow. Among them was the ultra-nationalist leader of the Russian football supporters’ association, Alexander Shprygin.

UEFA has launched disciplinary proceedings against Russia’s football authorities after hooligans stormed England supporters in Marseille’s Velodrome Stadium following the final whistle last weekend. It has warned that both countries could be disqualified from the tournament if disorder involving fans continues.

Violence surrounding the match has seen three Russians jailed for up to two years by French courts.

Six England fans have received shorter sentences.

I still believe these Russian thugs are state sponsored

I am now wondering how on earth Russia is going to host the world cup in 2018, who in their right mind is going to travel there, time for a rethink

Please search " ROI Fans 180616 Bordeaux Euros 2016" and have a look on the video , this is just incredible, these Irish supporters are fantastic , they've also been seen cleaning the fan zone before leaving

( sorry I do not manage to join the link)

I still believe these Russian thugs are state sponsored

I'm hearing this theory not the first time.

Anybody would care to explain, what exactly this "state" would gain from this?

Imaginable "power" and "influence", just like always?.. Sounds silly

back to beating up visible minorities, gays and women.,

back to serving Putin.

And what's the connection between ultras, beating minorities and serving Putin?

Like there is no hooligans/inadequates in your country exist

But it doesn't answer a question of purpose for such "links".

I see nothing wrong with some ex-soldiers wants to watch a football match.

Usually ex-soldiers like to show their "manliness" after couple of drinks/or idea of defending of his fellows if some fight already has started, but I can't see anything leading to "organized regime planned inside attack from inside of fan seats". There is no reason for such "sanctioned by government" action, nor any gainable value. This animal-behavior of those who like to get a fight was a disappointment for everyone. It's too short-sighted to "plan" such act if in the end nobody would gain anything from this, but accusations, don't you think?

Why my view is not considered as opinion by you?

Why you naming yourself as potentially more informed than others, while writing in quite subjective manner?

It's a public forum, where I can discuss matters just as you do. More of it: I have asked those questions not to argue with you, but to develop some more stronger ideas/base for such accusations.

When someone don't have anything to say related to subject, he starts to appeal to a personality. I even didn't insulted you.

I am now wondering how on earth Russia is going to host the world cup in 2018, who in their right mind is going to travel there, time for a rethink

This is an extremely important point and I hope FIFA will seriously reconsider holding the World Cup in Moscow. It is only a short two years away so they must act soon.

The 150-200 Russian hooligans are only a small drop in the bucket of what awaits football fans from all over the world when they arrive in Moscow.

Can the safety of fans be reasonably expected? Certainly not.

Like there is no hooligans/inadequates in your country exist

The connection is Putin, one of the world influencers inciting hatred towards others. And their numbers seem to growing, especially in the west.

And who even jokes about 200 Russians beating up thousands of English fans.

There is an article in the guardian, I suggest those asking questions about Russian state involvement and the motives go read it

I made a similar claim a few days ago before whitehall produced this report
