Re entry to Thailand by land

Featured Replies

We are entering Thailand from Laos by land, from the Internet we are pretty sure it implies that we will be given a 15 day re entry visa. However, everyone that we have met that has re entered by flight or land is being given 30 days re entry on arrival. Has anyone crossed the Huay Xai/Chang Khong border recently and how long was the re entry visa they were given?

Our flight out of Bangkok is on the 17th but we want to enter Thailand before, if we enter and just get given 15 days does any one know how much it would cost to extend the visa? We will be in Chang Mai as our first destination.

Thanks for your help!

Depends on your nationality. The G-Seven countries, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and the United States, get 30 days, most others get 15.

As said if you are from a G7 country you will get a 30 day visa exempt entry (not a visa of any kind) otherwise it will be 15 days.

You can extend a visa exempt entry for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

By Air, everyone gets 30 days by land see Post #2

I'm not totally clear whether we get 15 or 30 days by land?

If it is true that we only get 15 days. Can we extend by 10 days or do we have to extend by 30 days?

Thanks for your help!

I entered Thailand from the Laos border last week and was asked if 30 days was ok. I said yes, and was stamped in. It was my first visa exempt and was flying on a domestic flight out of Udon Thani. I'm from a G-7 country.

We're from England. But this would be our second entry to Thailand as we've already had 30 days?

The visa exemption can be extended at an immigration office for an additional 30 days for 1900 Baht.

You will get 30 days at a border crossing since you are from the UK (G7 country rule). Having a previous entry does not effect how many days you get.
