That's a great deal! smile.png

Found on Kayak and booked through Travelup. Thai wanted £1,700.

Was provided with the Amadeus number and promptly found our booking on Thai website and reserved our seats (11 E&F) both ways.

Though, it appears that there's no pre-booking for meals. No biggie but part of the fun on EVA.

There is little difference in comfort between Thai and EVA. Both are good enough if you can get a good price. Neither are particularly comfortable.

I'm longer/wider than most and got some sleep.

HUH?

Fully flat is not comfortable enough for you?

Geez!!!

My only gripe with Thai was a very minor thing... On the 777, the seat had no real armrest on one side. On the A380, there was, though the seat was otherwise the same.

Thai in London uses the United lounge, which is nicer than the Air Canada lounge used by EVA.

Yeah, that is pretty minor.

Geez!! Are you a snob?

That footrest part of the seat looks a bit of an uncomfortable angle for sleeping.

lol who in business class goes to sleep. Its for enjoying to the full

Can't argue with that. Though, if I didn't get some sleep I would arrive at destination in a pretty bad way.

When we returned on EVA last week, I lived it up in the BKK EVA lounge a little too much. Had a few champagnes, a beer and main meal on flight and promptly went to sleep for six hours. I'm getting too old.

I've been comped up mutiple times over the years either air miles or Gold Cards when busy in economy. I was amazed that 90% plus went to sleep for like 9-10 hours !! They could down 30mg of Valium and do that for £1300 less in economy !! Bizarre

I used to do Eva premium when I cd stretch to it- but Thai economy is not at all busy and you can usually stretch out..also Better food and newer planes on the LHR route.

If I cd afford business class I'd choose Thai simply over the width of the seat/bed. Correct me if wrong but Thai looks a lot wider. For me, to arrive in good shape with a good nights sleep is worth it

Seriously am not winding you up or trolling. Unless you're minted and money is no issue why not fly economy in biggest pitch available goof 30mg of diazapam and have end result with £1300 more in your pockets

It's more comfortable than a bed of nails, but not something you would normally want to sleep on.

Yuck. Just yuck.

Same with me. If I can't afford a premium seat, I can't afford the trip.

Economy seats are like church chairs, I would not dream sitting in one of those for 10-12 hours.

Today's fully lie flats are superb, I do fly Qatar, Thai is too expensive)

Fair play to you. Done it myself in years gone by. But nowadays, it's about getting across continents and being able to get straight on with my life. Taking Tramadol or some such, sleeping in an extremely unnatural position, and waking up felling like a zombie doesn't work for me.

Not for me thanks, you can't even look trough the window and it looks totally claustrophobic like a Tupperware box. EVA Air Elite is good enough for me.

Interior-A380_Silk-Class_03.jpg

Thats an isle seat, the seat infront is next to the window

Ok what I meant is that Eva have their outer rows angled (all facing windows). Thai have their outer rows in a staggered link all facing forwards, so only half have a clear window seat.

Fortunately one can choose their seats at the time of booking.... not just 48 hours before departure like the folks in the back.

According to seat guru.com the EVA business class seats are wider.

I don't see how. Spending 12 hours each way feeling miserable defeats the purpose of the holiday.

So getting actual sleep and effectively shortening the flight isn't enjoying it to the full?

Or do you enjoy sitting in a chair in the dark that much?

It's funny how these topics go off on the... 'you're really not more comfortable in a clearly more comfortable seat' tangent. Kind of like those 'it's so much better to be a renter than home owner' or 'how it's better to be in debt for tax benefits' type arguments.

Eva have had a 5 star rating for a while, and a great safety record.

You're right about Eva business class seats being wider than Thai.

Still would use Thai economy over Eva tho.

Posted

Both are wide enough for anyone who isn't massive. I'm bigger than most and was fine.

The small downside of the Eva seat is the narrow foot space. But if you're not tall, it won't be a problem.

Unfortunately, to make room for these seats, EVA took 4" off each premium economy seat.

Off of the seat pitch.

I prefer night flights and fly business class only on long haul flights precisely for the reason that i can have a good sleep and be fully rested as i usually will have a lot of work lined up starting soon after arrival.
