Wife Killed in Murder Suicide

Featured Replies

A government official murdered his young wife before committing suicide in what police are calling a fit of jealousy after an argument on Friday night. Colonel Khim Sarann, Chief of the Por Senchey district police, identified the husband as 50-year-old Ly Eang Sao and his victim and wife as 34-year-old Prak Sopheaktra.

Ms. Sopheaktra, the owner of a Wing Transfer shop, bled to death after being shot through the cheek by Mr. Eang Sao, an administrative official with the Ministry of Agriculture. The murder happened in the couple’s Boeng village home in Por Senchey’s Kanthouk commune at about 8:30pm, Col. Sarann said.

In the preceding argument, Mr. Eang Sao allegedly accused Ms. Sopheaktra of having an affair. Before fighting, however, the couple apparently ordered their two children, both under the age of 10, to move to the ground floor of the house. After the children left, Mr. Eang Sok fired two warning shots into the air to threaten Ms. Sopheaktra.
