Advice on wife's coming to Australia

Featured Replies

Hi experts. We married in Thailand last year. She's on a 3 month visitor visa in Australia. Please advise on our plan:

1) she will return to LOS after this visa

2) she will apply for partner visa in LOS

3) we want her to come back for another 3 month visa (how long must she be in Thailand before getting a tourist visa? Or does the partner visa application help the second visitor visa case or will it be a hinderance?)

4) she will return back to Thailand after the second visit

5) come back to oz upon granting of the partner visa

Do you see red flags? We don't wish for her to remain in oz permanently right now hence a couple of trips prior to permanent move is desired.

Appreciate feedback or recent experiences anybody may have.

In applying for the second visitor visa, they will be looking for similar things as the first, i.e., that there are sufficient funds to cover the visit, and that there is a compelling reason to come back to Thailand after the visit. My OH visited me in Oz while her fiancee visa was pending approval. No issues, as at the time she was still working here in Bangkok, and we had enough funds to cover her trip.

It's important that you are very up front about the pending partner visa application when you apply for the second visit visa, and that you explain the reason for the second visit in the context of the overall plan for her to migrate to Australia in the future, and why she needs to come back to Thailand before migrating to Australia.
