I have a current Multiple Non "O" Visa based on marriage that was obtained in Savannakhet last Year, it runs out on July 19th
It seems to me it is easier and cheaper just to apply for a retirement Visa and the multiple entry extension at Jomtien Immigration ?
Couple of things i have read are slightly confusing though. . . . i fly in and out of Thailand very often (maybe 30+ times per year for work) and having only recently returned (2 days ago) still have 88 days validity of stay, but i read cannot do this visa before 30 days ? I will never get to 30 days as never here that long ? and when i return next time my 1 Yr Multiple non O will have expired . . . .
Exactly how to do i go about getting a new retirement Visa given the above circumstances and what exactly do i need to do ? The 800,000 Baht is no problem and also have Yellow book for resident/address purposes
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks :)

You cannot apply for a retirement visa at immigration. You can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement if you can meet the financial requirements.

You need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 60 days (first extension) or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

You could get a single re-entry permit for your current 90 day entry to keep the remainder of it valid when you return from your next trip and then apply for the extension.

After you get the one year extension you would need to get a re-entry permit to keep it valid when you travel. In your case a multiple re-entry permit would be needed for a fee of 3800 baht.

Hi Ubonjoe and thanks, The 800K is fine and no problem, what about if i just let it expire and come in on normal 30 day visa exempt ?

You cannot apply for the extension directly from a visa exempt entry. You would first have to convert to a 90 day non immigrant visa entry (2000 baht fee) at immigration and it would mean two trips to immigration 15 days apart. Then you could apply for the one year extension during the last 30 days of that 90 day entry.

Best to spend 1000 baht for a single re-entry permit and apply for the one year extension when you return.

Ok, sorry to mess you around, but let me get this right so i know exactly what to do . . . .

I now have a valid 1 Yr Non O Multiple, but it does expire on 19th July (The Visa not my entry stamp)

I am going out on a short trip abroad next week, but will return before the 19th.....

So when i return again i go to Jomtien Immigration (While My Visa is still valid 19th?) to apply for a single re-entry permit (1000 Baht) ? How is this done ?

Then when i go and return again (within a short time) i have this single entry which i guess is valid for 30 days ? which will enable me to start the 1 yr extension based on retirement and funding ?

When you return and get a new 90 day entry you would get a re-entry permit that would give you same permit to stay date when you entered the country. For example if you entered and got a permit to stay date of October 15th the re-entry permit would be valid until that date and you would be stamped in until October 15th when you entered the country using the re-entry permit.

You visas expiration date means nothing when applying for the re-entry permit.

If you will be making 3 or more trips during the 90 days it might be best to get a multiple re-entry permit.

Ok, so i get a "Multiple" re-entry permit next time i am in, then just go ahead as normal with everything until 30 days before expiry to start the 1yr extension based on Retirement and funds yes ? Seems a long drawn out process now :)

It would not be that long a process if you did not need to do as many entries as it seems you to need to do.

When you get down to about 30 days remaining on the validity of the multiple re-entry permit you can apply for the extension.

The 800k baht will need to be in the bank for 60 days when you apply for the extension.
