Marriage O visa question

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a multiple entry O visa, which I got three months ago and has a stamp date for July 4th on it. I was telling a friend this moeant I had to leave the country but he found me this is wrong and I can go to Immigration at Chaeng Wattana to report. Is this correct? What documents do I need for this if he is correct?

You have to leave the country to get a new 90 day entry.

Your friend is confusing extensions of stay and visas. With an extension that allows you to stay longer than 90 days you do 90 day reports to immigration.

  • If you have a Multiple Entry Non 'O' Visa you have to leave the country every 90 days.

As you are married you could apply for a 60 day extension of stay (1,900 baht) at CW if you want to delay your next border run.

During the last 45 days of any 90 day stay you can apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage. You'd need to show 400,000K in a Thai bank for 2 months prior to applying OR a certified (by your embassy) income of 40K pm.

If you are granted a 1 year extension of stay you need to report every 90 days.

ok, that's clear many thanks.

I am heading to Laos to get the multi entry O marriage visa as I have been stopped at Bangkok Immigration on my 21st stamp (30 days waiver) for this year and was told to get the right visa

As I travel at least 4-6 times out of Thailand a month on short trips...I am assuming this one year visa means I can make as many trips as I want and every time i am back I will get 90 days right ?

The things we do for love !!!

That is right. You can enter as often as you want, but can only stay a maximum of 90 days per entry.

Thanks mate !

Does it make any sense to combine a multi-entry Non-O based on marriage *with* a 1 year extension of stay? The idea would be to avoid the hassle of re-entry permits for frequent travelling. I'm guessing that the extension of stay gets cancelled if you leave without a re-entry permit even with a multi-entry visa.

You could not use the non-o visa after getting the extension or you would loose your extension.

The only reason to get the multiple entry non-o would be to give you a few 90 day entries before you apply for the extension to get prepared to do it.
